With 11 games left in the season, Betfred boss Fred Done has bet more than £1 million ($1.26 million) on Liverpool to win the Premier League title.
Indeed, despite the fact that the 2024/25 Premier League season is only 11 games away, Betfred Co-Founder Fred Done has judged that the current 11-point margin between league leaders Liverpool and second-placed Arsenal is too large for the Gunners to overcome.
This is the tenth time the bookmaker has paid out on the Premier League's early conclusion under Done's leadership. So far, he has been correct seven times, most recently last year when the Betfred chief announced an early £750,000 payout for Manchester City's fourth consecutive title-winning season.
After becoming the first operator to pay out on Manchester United's early title triumph in 1998, the team squandered a 12-point advantage at the top, losing to Arsenal by one point at the conclusion of season.
This is one of only two instances in which Betfred erroneously predicted the end of a Premier League season. However, heading into the current season, the operator provided the industry's best price of 9/1 on Liverpool to win the league, with Done stating that he would use the money to pay for a Bahamas vacation at the end of the season.
Done commented on the recent decision, saying: "As a lifetime Manchester United fan, it hurts me to have to pay out if Liverpool wins the Premier League trophy for the second time. After this weekend's results, I believe the writing is on the wall: Liverpool will win the league convincingly this season. To anybody who backed them to win the title with us, go get your money."
